If you admire the smiles of celebrities and models because of their white, uniform appearance, it is likely that you are seeing the work of a cosmetic dentist and the smile-improving treatment called veneers.

Veneers are thin, shell-like restorations designed to bond to the front of the teeth, covering myriad flaws such as discolouration, wear, chips or gaps between teeth. Veneers are versatile and able to improve a single out-of-place tooth or create an entirely new look for the smile.

Planning Veneers with Digital Smile Design

Cosmetic dentistry needs to account for not only the appearance of the teeth, but also the patient’s facial features, personality and preference. Digital Smile Design (DSD), accounts for those characteristics that impact the smile and how the smile impacts the face.

Using digital photographs of the patient’s smile, DSD software analyses the shape of the lips, width of the smile and the colour of the dentistry in contrast to the patient’s skin tone. Our Swansea dentists use DSD to determine the proper size, shape, length and colour of veneers for exceptional aesthetic results as well as comfortable chewing function.

DSD makes it possible for our experienced cosmetic dentists to produce leading-edge, predictable results that patients can see for themselves. For comprehensive cosmetic treatment including porcelain veneers, we also create a ‘try-in’ smile for patients to experiment with before the creation of their final veneers.

Cosmetic Teeth Veneers – Our Options for Patients

We offer both composite veneers as well as ceramic veneers, using CEREC technology. Composite veneers are made of flowable tooth-coloured filling material using a mould of teeth. They are then shaped and bonded to the front of prepared teeth by our cosmetic dentists.

Ceramic, or porcelain, veneers utilise our in-house milling machine to create a single veneer or series of veneers to cover the front of natural teeth with exceptional and long-lasting results. The dentist will then shade and glaze each ceramic restoration for multi-dimensional, natural-looking restorations to transform your smile.

In some cases, patients may prefer lab-created porcelain restoration or low-prep veneers. We work closely with the most highly skilled local technicians to ensure that our patients are pleased with the outcome.

Protecting Your Veneers

The best insurance for your dentistry and smile is to maintain regular active maintenance dental appointments for check-ups, cleans and routine x-rays that will assist in identifying any decay or bone loss that threaten the smile. It is also a good idea to avoid biting into anything that could damage your natural teeth because it can also damage your veneers. If you clench and grind your teeth during sleep, your dentist may recommend a nightguard to protect your veneers and your teeth.
