Same-Day Crowns and Restorations
We take x-rays in the first visit to be able to diagnose properly. We advised x-rays to be taken every couple of years to detect any decays, bone level changes and to compare to your previous radiographs.
Each type of x-ray serves a purpose to ensure the health of our patients and to diagnose any oral conditions. While routine dental x-rays every few years are part of our preventive dentistry protocol, some situations warrant additional radiographs.
Emergency dental appointments – A dental emergency or a toothache will require additional x-rays to diagnose the condition.
Dental implants – Planning dental implant surgery requires precise planning and evaluation before embarking on surgical procedures. Individual x-rays along with a panoramic x-ray are part of the treatment planning process.
Crowns and bridges – Ruling out any underlying conditions before proceeding with restorative dentistry provide patients with superior results. We will use digital dental x-rays to rule out bone loss or instances of decay.
Wisdom teeth evaluation – Young adults are candidates for wisdom teeth (third molar) removal if their teeth become symptomatic. Panoramic x-rays show the position and presence of third molars.
At Swansea Family Dental, located in Swansea, we utilise digital dental x-rays, which emit 80 per cent less radiation than film radiographs. Digital x-rays produce high-resolution images for our dentists to use in diagnosis and treatment planning options.
With the technology that we have at our practice with our CEREC ceramic restoration machine, we are able to offer our patients the comfort of one-visit crowns, bridges and veneers. What that means for our patients is no more temporary crowns and no return visit for cementation. It all gets done in a single appointment.
CEREC technology does not compromise on quality or aesthetics. Your dental restorations will result from milling small pieces of ceramic based on the digital scan we have taken of your tooth or teeth.
Your dentist will provide the final colour, shading and polish for the restoration to match your surrounding teeth for seamless results. In the case of teeth veneers, ceramic CEREC veneers can completely change the appearance of the smile, adjusting the spacing between teeth, the size and shape of teeth and improving the colour.
CEREC technology eliminates the need for impressions by replacing imperfect impression paste with high-quality digital scanning technology to improve results and ensure a comfortable and aesthetic result.
